At FCC Pomona, we offer a variety of ministries at FCC Pomona offer people ways to grow and serve. These ministries also give people the opportunity to get to know other people and find communities of support.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is open to all people who love to sing! The choir meets every Thursday evening at 7 pm (September through June). There are no auditions, just a love of music. Jeffery Schindler, the Organist / Choir Director is a talented musician with the ability to inspire and encourage both the seasoned singer and those who are new to the vocal arts. The great plus of this ministry is that it is a lot of fun! The Chancel Choir’s mission is to bring forth inspiration and beauty in the worship services to the glory of God.

Children’s and Youth Ministries

The life and faith development of children has always been an important part of our ministry together at First Christian Church.  Children are encouraged to be active participants of the congregation.  We help children and youth develop their faith and leadership skills through the following ways.

The youth of First Christian Church are full active member of the congregation.  Many your serve on church ministry groups, sing in the Choir, and serve their brothers and sister in Christ on the Diaconate.  Some of the specific youth ministries of the church are:

Worship and Wonder

Worship and Wonder is a time during our worship service when children to experience a joyful way to worship God. Children, age 4 through Grade 3, experience the wonder and mystery of God through a unique storytelling format and multi-sensory materials. Our storytellers create a worship environment that cultivates the imagination and invites children to respond creatively, choosing from sever forms of expression: painting, clay, drawing, retelling the story using the multi-sensory materials.

Youth Retreats

These retreats center on enhancing the relational nature of youth ministry. Most retreats consist of a camping trip that includes study, relationship building and spiritual formation. Service and mission are components important to faith formation as well.

Logos is a mid-week program for children and youth that runs from 5:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday’s during the school year.  The Logos program teaches the Christian faith through the development of worship skills (music, drama, public reading, and performance), education ( Bible study, moral teaching), Table Fellowship (dinner together) and games and recreation.  Logos is for children in first grade through high school.  There is a fee for supplies and food.

Summer Camps and Conferences

Children of the church from second grade onward are encouraged to attend Summer Camp. The camp experience helps children and youth involve themselves in learning about wider church life by developing community with other young Christians. Every year, children and youth study the Bible, learn how to share in community through meals and play and develop their sense of Christian discipleship.
