Compassion Practice

2021-03-13 09:00 2021-03-13 10:30 America/Los_Angeles Compassion Practice

The heart of the Christian faith is to love God, love neighbor and love one’s self. Compassion Practice is a practical guide to doing all three, a sort of Christianity 101, 201, etc. Julie Roberts-Fronk will lead participants in a monthly teaching and weekly guided meditation. The teaching will introduce the practice and its efficacy through story and conversation. Each monthly teaching also includes an introduction to the weekly guided meditation. The first three months will focus on practices that center us and ground us in sacred presence.  If you’ve participated in the Compassion Practice course, you are welcome to attend. It is an opportunity to begin again or deepen your practice. This is a practice which means it takes time to build and gain the fruits of what it offers. Practices like Compassion Practice have been shown to alter patterns in the brain that impact our mood and resilience. Over time, we can actually have more calm, greater compassion for ourselves and others as we practice and allow the sacred presence of God access.  Teaching sessions are currently scheduled for Feb. 13, March 13 and April 10, in the afternoon. Each session will last 1-1 ½ hours. Weekly guided meditations will be determined by those who participate and are open to those who have already completed the Compassion Practice course. To RSVP, email the Church Office fcc@fccpomona.org or call 909-622-1144.
