Ash Wednesday Service

2022-03-02 19:00 2022-03-02 20:00 America/Los_Angeles Ash Wednesday Service

This service will be HYRBID; join us in-person or virtually on Facebook.  Being still is countercultural. Being still and quiet is considered non-productive in this consumer society. Yet, as people of faith we are encourage, urged even to “Be still and know….” You are invited to enter worship at home or in the sanctuary. While the space is set for you in the sanctuary, creating it for yourself at home will require some intentionality on your part. Think about what might make the space feel like an extension of the sanctuary on your screen: A candle lit at the beginning of the service, lowering the lights, turning off your phone, placing flowers nearby or a picture of something beautiful or someone dear to you. The Ash Wednesday Service will include periods of quiet, invitations to ponder and reflect as we begin a new season in the church year. Beginnings are opportunities to start again something that once fed our soul. Beginnings are opportunities to try something new. Lent is an invitation to begin again that which is foundational for the spiritual life. There will be periods of quiet, lasting about 3 minutes each, throughout the service.
