Compelling Conversations with Tim Reed Video/Book Study ~ “I Never Thought of It That Way: How to Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times” By Mónica Guzmán Preview Session: Thursday, October 30th, 7pm (ZOOM) We will have a preview session on October 30th to watch and discuss a TED Talk given by the author that gives an overview of the book. This will help potential participants decide if they would like to explore the book’s ideas in more depth. Regular Sessions: Thursdays in November, 7pm (ZOOM) Please RSVP: Please RSVP with your name, email and phone number to get the ZOOM login and class updates.  Send in your RSVP to fcc@fccpomona.org About the Author: Mónica Guzmán is a journalist and a leader in Braver Angels, the largest grassroots, cross-partisan organization in the country dedicated to political depolarization. About the Book: Politics is dividing friends, family, and even churches. These divisions are becoming increasingly hostile, and sometimes even violent. Our views on politics are informed by our deepest values, which are shaped by our Christians faith. And yet, Christians often passionately disagree with each other about how our Christian faith translates into our views on public policy and who we vote for to represent us in our government.  And many Christians are among those who believe that people in the other party are stupid, ignorant, or even evil. About the Class: In this class we will meet weekly to view a video segment featuring the author and discuss how her ideas can help us understand each other and help heal the divisions with each other and in our society. Jesus tells us to love each other and to love our enemy. All too often our enemy is someone who supports the other party or who has different political opinions than we do. Each session will focus on a video segment we watch together.  You are welcome to attend as many sessions as you can. There is no commitment to attend all sessions. Participants are encouraged but not required to read the book.
