Día de los Muertos at the CDC

2024-10-30 17:30 2024-10-30 18:30 America/Los_Angeles Día de los Muertos at the CDC

As the year winds down, the seasons change, and we reflect on the people who’ve made our lives richer, we invite all to participate in this traditional day of remembrance hosted by the Child Development Center (CDC)! CDC Director, Hilda Koorn, is assembling ofrendas (altars) for CDC families, staff, and FCC church members who’d like to participate! The ofrendas will be set up in the Narthex of the church (the part between the entry and the sanctuary). There are multiple ways to participate in this special event: Photos of deceased loved ones can be emailed to the CDC to be included in the display. Please specify that this is for Día de los Muertos. You are welcome to create your own ofrendas to be displayed alongside your loved ones’ photos! Please reach out to the CDC to coordinate this. You can come as a guest to simply learn, reflect, and be in community! Appetizers will be served, and traditional costumes are welcome. FCC Pomona will be observing our own day of remembrance during our All Saints’ Sunday service on Sunday, November 2 at 10a.

A felt skull is detailed with flowers, bold colors, and other whimsical stiches in the style of Día de los Muertos decorations. It is propped up against a backdrop of orange, gold, red, and purple silk flowers atop a blue, orange, green, and white tablecloth. The skull has a red flower pin made of gauzy fabric affixed to it like a bow and secured with a large clear rhinestone. The skull’s pupils are also rhinestones, albeit smaller, heart-shaped, and pale pink. Image via Pixabay.
