Parking Lot Palm Sunday Service

2021-03-28 10:00 2021-03-28 11:00 America/Los_Angeles Parking Lot Palm Sunday Service

Worship will be on Facebook LIVE from the PARKING LOT. You can participate from home, or come to church and take part in person for a physically distanced and masked gathering. The service is patterned around pilgrimage. Jesus and his followers went to Jerusalem for Passover; it was a pilgrimage. Where are we on our own pilgrimage with God? “What can I expect if I come to church?” A mostly empty parking lot, a place to park away from the sitting area, and designated areas for sitting. You can bring your own folding chair(s) or use one provided by the church. Everyone will be masked. Regardless if you’ve had Covid-19 or have been vaccinated, the Dept. of Public Health and CDC urge us to double mask because even some of these can still be vectors. Everyone is precious, so let us protect each other. You must stay at least 8-10 feet apart from people not in your household (Q: Wait, isn’t it 6 feet? A: Only when you are not singing). There are plans for some singing, and even when done outside, the CDC strongly urges increased distance. You can also expect a service intended to engage you in physical activity if you so wish: sidewalk chalk, a pilgrimage walk, the waving of a palm branch and more. (There is no sermon.) You can bring your own communion elements AND there will be disposable kits available. Please arrive no later than 9:45 to allow for necessary set-up and spacing. Additionally, once the Facebook livestream begins, dealing with late comers becomes very difficult and disruptive.
